Jason Derulo: 'I’m a Grown Man Now, and I’ve Gone Through Every Single Thing Possible'

Jason Derulo is comfortable trusting his instincts. They haven’t failed him yet.

When remixing his latest mega hit, “Swalla,” Derulo allowed the process to evolve naturally. This included a decision to request that Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign, who appear on the original version, revisit for the grown-and-sexy redo.

“Initially, I was going to do it by myself,” says the singer, who has 12 platinum and gold hits to his credit (including “Whatcha Say,” “Talk Dirty,” and “Want to Want Me”). “I was in the studio with my keyboardist. We just started playing around, and then it turned out to be really special. I was like, ‘F*** it. Let me send it to Nicki and Ty.’ They both flipped out, and we had both of their verses in the next two days.”

The stripped-down, Caribbean-style rendition offers something different for each of the featured artists — especially Minaj, who raved about the new version in an Instagram post.

Derulo was equally free when shooting the colorful, erotic music video for the song, which currently has 240 million plays. Produced by Ricky Reed — who also helmed the Derulo smashes “Talk Dirty,” “Wiggle,” and “Get Ugly” — the clip features a nude woman being covered with paint, plus a tricky dance scene that takes place in a pool of water.

When asked about the model wearing her birthday suit, Derulo takes a bit of a bashful tone. “Yes, she was nude,” he affirms. “She was really cool. I mean, she’s obviously comfortable with nudity. I’m guessing she probably [has performed nude] before, so she wasn’t tripping. But it was cool, very artistic.”

Dancing in a pool wasn’t as easy. “Certain things we couldn’t even do with the water, because it was so slippery. I almost died trying to do this one move in that water,” says Derulo, who’s no stranger to dangerous dance routines (in 2012, he fractured his neck and was nearly paralyzed when practicing an acrobatic trick during a tour rehearsal.)

Derulo’s risk-taking tendencies aren’t limited to just videos and performance. On the business side, he’s launched a clothing line, LVL XIII; has invested in the Rumble boxing-style fitness program; and taken on a music protégé, rising rap star Movi3, who recently premiered the song “Need a Bag.”

“Now that I’ve been through the wringer and I’ve done everything, I can help out,” Derulo explains. “I can really help avoid so, so many stresses that I had to go through in somebody else’s career. Movi3 is definitely somebody that is bubbling and starting to do things on his own.”

This summer will mark the eighth anniversary of Derulo arrival on the pop scene, debuting with his breakthrough hit “Whatcha Say.” In that music video, he was more of the shy, boy-next-door persona, compared to the ab-baring, pelvis-throbbing sex symbol that he is today.

The memory of the “Whatcha Say” video makes Derulo laugh. “I was a kid,” he says. “I was just kinda thrown into stardom. I was just going on the main stage, and that’s always difficult, especially having no guidance or answers.

“But it is different now. I’m a grown man now. I am 27 years old, and I’ve gone through every single thing possible. And my greatest blessing is that I managed to just be myself.”

Pentatonix's Avi Kaplan Announces He's Leaving the Group in Emotional Video

Pentatonix member Avi Kaplan announced in a tearful video Friday (May 12) that he has decided to step back from the a cappella group.

In the video, he talked about how much he has loved participating in Pentatonix but how difficult it has been to keep up with the fast-paced nature of the group, which often required him to spend long periods of time away from friends and family.

“All of the things that we’ve accomplished, all the music that we’ve made and the people that we’ve touched with that music -- it far surpasses anything that I could have ever dreamed for my life,” Kaplan said in the video.

Along with the video, Kaplan released a written statement on the group’s Facebook page.

‘The Voice’ Semifinals Recap: The Fateful 8

In this sudden-death semifinals week, the Voice top eight will become a Voice top four in less time than it takes for Blake Shelton to refill his “Starbucks” cup, for Gwen Stefani to find a great new boyfriend, or for NBC to steal superstar panelists away from American Idol’s just-announced reboot. This Tuesday, half of Season 12’s very talented hopefuls will go home, all at once — and judging by how things went on Monday’s top-eight performance show, there may be some unexpected and painful cuts, particularly for the once-unstoppable Team Gwen.

It can be argued that — despite losing one of her contestants, Troy Ramey, very early on — Gwen had the strongest team this season. Hunter Plake ascended the iTunes chart week after week with his brilliant and inventive remakes (Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love” deconstructed to sound like a Weeknd witchhouse remix, Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is” reimagined as a fragile, Damien Rice-like lament), and 15-year-old Brennley Brown seemed positioned to be the new Danielle Bradbery and maybe even the first non-Team Blake country singer to win The Voice. But this crucial week, both contestants shed their signature special styles, “switching things up” at the exactly wrong moment. Sheesh. Why didn’t Gwen just give them Korin Bukowski-inspired platinum-blond makeovers while she was at it?

Yes, it’s still likely that Team Gwen will be represented by at least one artist in next week’s finale. But after almost all of the contestants gave stellar performances Monday — and the underdogs had both bark and bite, and the dark horses seemed to be sprinting directly toward the winner’s circle — Hunter and Brennley’s success no longer seems to be a given.

Thankfully, both of Gwen’s contestants sang fantastic duets — Hunter sharing a sweet and lovely moment with Team Blake teen Aliyah Moulden, Brennley holding her own alongside Season 12 frontrunner Lauren Duski — and that might help their chances, since duet downloads and special namesmash-hashtags tweets counted as votes for both singers in each pairing this week. So #AliyahHunterDuet and #BrennleyLaurenDuet, y’all!

Here’s your pre-bloodbath recap.

SOLOS

Hunter Plake (Team Gwen)

Just in time to probably-not-coincidentally celebrate The Joshua Tree’s 30th anniversary tour (and give Gwen a chance to brag about that time when No Doubt toured with U2), Hunter did that album’s most iconic and instantly recognizable track, “With or Without You.” And, oh, it was recognizable, all right. Too recognizable. While Hunter has always stood out thanks to his radical song-flips, this week he took Gwen’s odd advice about adhering to the melody (an obsession of hers all season) and did a faithful, ultimately underwhelming version of the song. This was generic, at least by high Hunter Plake standards.

Honestly, Hunter might have been doomed no matter what he did here. If he had tampered with U2’s beloved classic, it would’ve backfired. But playing it safe wasn’t the way to go, either. Additionally, Gwen said she’d picked this tune so Hunter could really showcase his voice (as opposed to his production and arranging talents), yet his vocals didn’t sound very impressive here. Was the show having audio issues? Hunter’s whispery low notes were barely audible over the cranked-to-11 house band — and that made unfavorable comparisons with Bono’s big, booming voice almost inevitable.

Blake was actually impressed by Hunter’s voice, saying, “Dude, that is by a mile your best vocal performance.” Blake also appreciated that Hunter “honored the original.” But Adam Levine expressed mild disappointment. “When the song started, it was probably the most straightforward production you have done so far. You like to take things and twist them around and make them your own and do the ‘Hunter treatment’ to them, and I love that. I was missing that at first,” admitted Adam, before quickly adding, “But then I was like, ‘It’s so great to hear someone sing that song and do that vocal the way it is really supposed to be done.’ I like the fact that it was kind of a classic take on the song.”

Well, if viewers didn’t like Hunter’s performance, maybe The Voice can just pull a Songs of Innocence move and force it onto everyone’s iTunes, so he gets the iTunes bonus anyway. Whatever it takes, I say. To loosely borrow a phrase from Bono, I can’t live without Hunter in the finale.

Everything You've Ever Wanted to Know About Eyelash Extensions—Explained

Whether you aren't satisfied with your natural fringe, don't feel like meticulously tending to your lashes daily, or just want to look like J.Lo, eyelash extensions are decidedly alluring. But from cost to maintenance, they are a *total* commitment. Here, find a quick and dirty guide to everything you need to know from application to how long they last.

How They Work

"Applying extensions to the lashes enhances the length, thickness, and fullness of natural eyelashes," explains Skyy Hadley, owner of As "U" Wish Nail Spa. "Individual lashes are dipped into a medical-grade adhesive and bonded to your natural eyelash. This process can take one to two hours."

What They Are Made Of

"Extensions may consist of synthetic, human, silk, or mink hair," says Hadley. Synthetic lashes tend to be a bit shinier, studier, and suitable for a dramatic look, while silk or mink extensions are lighter, more natural, and less strenuous on natural lashes.

How They're Customized

"We take into consideration the condition (brittle or strong), length, and curl of the client's natural lashes, as well as their eye shape," explains Elizabeth Diaz, lash specialist at Pucker. The thickness of the lashes can range anywhere between 0.07 mm and .2 mm, while length can range from 6 mm to 15 mm.

How They're Maintained

According to Diaz, the following is recommended/required:

Avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 12-24 hours.
If you wear makeup, keep all oil-based products away from the eye area.
Don't rub your eyes.
Sleep on your back.
Brush your lashes in the mornings and after showers.
Brush from the tips, not from the root, or you'll end up pulling lashes out.
How Long They Last

"Lash extensions can last up to a month, but we always recommend touch-ups 10-21 days after to keep them looking full and neat," explains Hadley. "Keep in mind we lose 3-5 natural lashes a day."

How Much They Cost

"It depends on the salon you decide to go to," says Hadley. "More reputable salons charge $150-$350 for one application that lasts about 4-6 weeks."

Aly Raisman Slams TSA Agent After 'Sexist' Incident: 'I Am So Sick of This Judgmental Generation'

Aly Raisman has spoken out about body shaming before, but a recent incident that she aired on Twitter was particularly egregious.

On Wednesday, the two-time Olympian shared on social media that TSA staffers made comments about her muscles while making her way through airport security. While the female employee asked if she was a gymnast because of her muscles, her male counterpart reportedly said to Raisman, “I don’t see any muscles” and continued to stare at her, which she called “rude” and made her feel “uncomfortable.”

“I work very hard to be healthy and fit. The fact that a man thinks he [can] judge my arms pisses me off,” Raisman wrote in a series of tweets. “I am so sick of this judgmental generation. If you are a man who can’t compliment a girl’s [biceps] you are sexist. Get over yourself. Are you kidding me? It’s 2017. When will this change? ”

She concluded by noting again that he was “very rude.” She added, “Staring at me shaking his head like it couldn’t be me because I didn’t look “strong enough” to him? Not cool.”

In a statement regarding the incident, the TSA noted that it “conducts screening at security checkpoints when departing from a U.S. or U.S territory airport, and it appears that Ms. Raisman was traveling from a foreign airport. We have reached out to Ms. Raisman via Twitter, requesting more details of her experience. If the incident occurred at any of our security checkpoints in the U.S, we look forward to hearing from her to look into this further.”

Many were quick to defend Raisman on social media.

The gold medalist has been outspoken about her body in the past. Raisman, who posed in the 2017 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, said of the photo shoot that it was “empowering to be out there and just, you have insecurities just like everyone else, your body’s not perfect, but you feel confident and beautiful.” She added, “I used to be so insecure, I thought my arms were too muscular, but now I’m growing to like them.”

She also told Yahoo Style recently that she works really hard for her body. “I believe that all women should embrace how beautiful they are, no matter their body type.”

Kate Middleton Is Radiant in a Rochas Dress at the Chelsea Flower Show

After a weekend that saw her little sister Pippa get married, the Duchess of Cambridge embraced her inner botanist at today’s Chelsea Flower Show, sporting a floral dress from Rochas. (She wore a hat that was reminiscent of a flower for the ceremony on Saturday, so clearly things were already coming up roses, so to speak). The piece is in line with Kate Middleton’s style, hitting just below her knee and featuring soft pleats she typically favors for custom coat dresses from Catherine Walker and Emilia Wickstead.

The Pre-Fall midi dress, which has since sold out online, features a white floral motif that was appropriate for the show. The slashed shoulder sleeves provided an interesting geometric twist to the free-flowing silk frock, while tonally coordinated earrings from Monica Vinader and neutral tone pumps completed the look with quiet sophistication.

This Might Be Kendall Jenner's Most Enviable Cannes Look Yet

Kendall Jenner is heating up, and it seems like nothing can slow her down.

The 21-year-old supermodel was spotted hanging out on a yacht in Cannes, France, with friend Hailee Baldwin and older sister Khloe Kardashian, wearing a truly adorable, vintage-inspired bikini.

The top, with its oversized buttons and sweet ruffles, is perfectly complemented by the high-waisted bottoms from designer Lisa Marie Fernandez.

Though the $420 price tag is a bit steep, there are tons of other online retailers offering equally cute high-waisted bikinis at more affordable prices.

Jenner's darling beachwear isn't the first outfit she's worn at Cannes that's left us with closet envy. Days ago, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star wore a one-shouldered Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown with a flowing fabric train that was both ethereal and stunning.

How ‘Dirty Dancing’ Catapulted Keds to Success

It’s been 30 years since “Dirty Dancing” hit theaters, and on May 24, the classic film is back. ABC will air the three-hour TV musical starring Abigail Breslin as Baby Houseman and Colt Prattes as Johnny Castle. (Sarah Hyland, Debra Messing and Katy Segal also star in the flick.)

To commemorate the anniversary, Keds is celebrating the moment that had a massive impact on the brand back in 1987 with a special throwback dance class at Tracy Anderson Studio in New York so fans of the film can have their own Jennifer Grey experience. (Grey played Baby Houseman as she starred opposite Patrick Swayze in the 1987 hit movie.)

“We all know the iconic scene with [Jennifer Grey as Baby] dancing in her white Champions,” said Keds’ CMO, Emily Culp. “It drove over 10 times the average revenue growth for us [at the time].” She added, “The brand is 101 years old. It’s always been about female empowering and embracing your moxie in fashion.”

And it looks like the remake is staying true to its roots. Culp added that the brand has been actively participating in the TV movie remake by sending shoes to be featured. “[Those shoes] were a key part of what made ‘Dirty Dancing,’ and you can see the impact [that it had].”

Tune in to ABC tonight for the premiere airing at 8 p.m. EST, and click through the gallery to see all the iconic shoe moments from the original “Dirty Dancing.”

J.Crew’s New Strategy: Slashing Prices

300 items you can actually afford (without the 40% off)

Remember when J.Crew was trying to push $500 lace jogging pants, $800 skirts, and $1,900 sweaters? Those days are over.

The company is slashing prices in an attempt to tackle slumping sales and counter waning customer interest. Its most recent catalogue explicitly alerts customers to its newly affordable prices. “The perfect dress, the perfect price,” the copy alongside a $78 off-the-shoulder navy eyelet dress reads. “Keep an eye out for more prices that’ll make you smile, all throughout this Style Guide.”

Tank tops, tees, and dresses cost a fraction of the price they did last summer, an adjustment that mostly applies to classic J.Crew items, the brand confirmed to Racked; higher-end items still exist at J.Crew, but you’re likely to find them within the company’s Collection assortment.

In today’s Wall Street Journal, J.Crew chairman and chief executive officer Mickey Drexler confirmed his strategy; the brand is lowering the prices of exactly 300 items.

“We became a little too elitist in our attitude,” Drexler said. “We gave a perception of being a higher-priced company than we were — in our catalog, online, and in our general presentation... Very big mistake.”

Following sinking sales (decreasing 6 percent to $2 billion in 2016) and mass layoffs, the company is investing in “retuning J.Crew’s identity as an affordable and accessible brand for everybody — not just the fashion-forward crowd.” Drexler said the company is “getting back to being who we are — much more comfortable, approachable, democratic, and friendly.”

Pricing at J.Crew has become a major grievance for a brand that used to be known for selling trendy, affordable basics. Many credited J.Crew’s deviation into high-end fashion to Jenna Lyons, the company’s longtime creative director and president, who stepped down in April. Lyons made J.Crew cool, colorful, and more fashion-forward, but all that came with a price — literally. Plenty of shoppers complained the prices had gotten out of control; one even drew an illustrated open letter to the company at The Hairpin, telling the New York Post “I was a fan of J.Crew for over 20 years. But as I look at the catalogs now, I just don’t get it.”

WSJ notes that the price increase at J.Crew over the years wasn’t without cause. The brand was always interested in quality, often focusing and investing on small details. But now it’s competing with a new class of trendy fast fashion retailers that operate at lightning speed, and as the paper writes, “design details such as nicer buttons and richer colors are less apparent on the internet.”

To compete without marking everything down by 40 percent every other week, J.Crew’s created an analytics team to research and optimize the cost of each item. It also plans to switch up its supply chain beyond China so that clothing will arrive in stores faster (a page straight out of the playbooks at Zara, ASOS, and Boohoo). Drexler vows that J.Crew is “not going to allow our competitors to take from us,” but it remains to be seen if speedier production and cheaper pricing will help shoppers fall back in love with what was once America’s favorite basics store.

Bella Thorne Wears Revealing Silver Gown With a Sparkly Tiara in Cannes

Bella Thorne’s the princess of Cannes — at least according to her latest accessory. The actress stepped out for a red carpet event wearing a silver gown with a collar and low-cut neckline. She completed the look with a sparkly tiara.

Thorne’s royal look fit right in with her surroundings at Philipp Pleinn’s first-ever resort show on Wednesday night in France. The metallic dress comes from the Italian designer’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection. She even styled her hair in the same long, loose manner Pleinn used to debut the dress for last season’s runway show. She spent the evening with other celebrities including Paris Hilton and Chris Zylka, who walked the show and Eva Longoria, who sat front row.

Her other Cannes outfits have included a Rockabilly-inspired black, white, and red ensemble. (Pro tip: similar gingham pants are on sale at Asos right now for $27.)

She even took her penchant for mixed prints international, matching a leopard bikini top with a checkered bottom. The poolside look is very “I grabbed what was on top in my suitcase” chic, and the good news is that next time you forget to pack part of a vacation outfit, you can mix and match and claim you’re channeling Bella Thorne.

Thorne is no stranger to the headlines thanks to her constant hair transformations and policy of oversharing. But she’s landed extra coverage at Cannes thanks to her travel buddy, Scott Disick. Thorne, who is 19-years-old to Disick’s 34, is reportedly sharing a private villa for the festival with the infamous Kardashian ex. Photos show that Disick may have even matched his own gray suit to Thorne’s silver metallic outfit, the true sign of any power couple. (Although as Disick’s nickname is “Lord,” it’s a surprise he didn’t wear a crown to complement Thorne’s tiara.)

Will Thorne end up on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and will she be wearing a tiara or a fishnet bodysuit when she does? Only time will tell.

First Gentleman of Luxembourg, Who's Married to World's Only Openly Gay Prime Minister, Poses With Spouses of World Leaders

While President Donald Trump has met with many male heads of government, First Lady Melania Trump has often mingled with their wives. But on Thursday, Mrs. Trump was introduced to the First Gentleman of Luxembourg.

Gauthier Destenay, the husband of Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, joined Trump and other spouses for a dinner while their significant others attended a gathering as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) conference in Brussels, Belgium.

Prime Minister Bettel, 44, and Belgian architect Destenay entered a civil partnership in 2010 and married in 2015 after Luxembourg’s legislators approved gay marriage. Bettel became the first openly gay Prime Minister of Luxembourg in December 2013, after an election campaign in which his sexuality was not a secret nor an issue.

Bettel is the world’s only gay head of government since Iceland’s former Prime Minister Johanna Sigurðardóttir, a lesbian, and Belgium’s Elio Di Rupo finished their mandates in 2013 and 2015 respectively

“I have just one life, and I don’t want to hide my life,” Bettel previously said in an interview. “But I was not the ‘gay candidate.’ People didn’t vote for me because I’m gay or I’m straight.”

In April, Bettel and Destenay irked conservative members of the Catholic Church when they were invited to Rome by Pope Francis to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the European Union’s founding Treaty Of Rome. Others saw the visit as a “powerful message” on the Vatican’s position on gay rights.

Also in attendance at the dinner with Destenay and Trump were First Lady of France Brigitte Macron, First Lady of Turkey Emine Gulbaran Erdogan, Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Ingrid Schulerud, Desislava Radeva, Amelie Derbaudrenghien, Mojca Stropnik and First Lady of Iceland Thora Margret Baldvinsdottir.

Earlier in the day, President Trump came under fire for appearing to shove Montenegro Prime Minister Dusko Markovic aside to get to the front of a group during a photo-op with NATO leaders.

Members were seen walking together to get to a meeting when Trump emerged from behind and pushed Markovic aside, stepping in front of him. The president then smugly straightened in his jacket.

“Some of the leaders interacted with one another on stage, but not Trump,” members of the press stated in a pool report. “He stood silently, shifting his stance at moments and looking around.”

They said, “Trump smiled for a brief moment, but otherwise kept a serious, perhaps even stern, expression on his face for the duration of the photo-op.”

Two High Schoolers Show Support for Planned Parenthood in the Most Fashionable Way

Karolina Montes, 16, and Zoë Balestri, 17, are students at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx in New York City. And when it was time for the two to come up with a project for their school’s annual fashion show, they knew they wanted to do two things: Find a way to work together on a project, and design something that — as Montes tells Yahoo Beauty — has “more meaning than just being a dress after what’s been happening this past year.”

The annual fashion show requires students to display artwork using nontraditional materials, and Balestri explains that as soon as the two thought of doing something in support of Planned Parenthood, they knew, “That’s it.”

Balestri explains that she and Montes got a grant from their school to purchase materials from Planned Parenthood, and also contacted the reproductive and sexual health care provider about their project and desire to buy materials in addition to what the school grant covered. The teens bought thousands of Planned Parenthood stickers, and the organization also sent the them pamphlets, additional stickers, pins and — of course

Using Planned Parenthood stickers, signs, and condoms, combined with shower curtains, PVC piping, hot-glue guns, tape, and staples, the two young women created their show-stopping gowns.

The bra top of Balestri’s gown, in fact, was created by sewing together packages of condoms by hand.

“When I walked down the runway, I think some people thought it was funny that I was wearing condoms on the top, but I think it was a great way to bring people out of their comfort zones a little bit, and de-stigmatize something that shouldn’t carry any stigma at all,” she said.

Montes says that one of their main motivations in creating the Planned Parenthood gowns was to educate, especially because students in fifth through 12th grades attend the annual event.

“In fifth grade, I didn’t really know about Planned Parenthood and what was going on with the government,” Montes said. “But with this current administration, we knew we needed to somehow be involved, and this was one way.”

Adds Balestri, “A huge part of our project was just about being young women and showing we can take action and showing what happens when young women take action. We wanted to use our voices to show what Planned Parenthood does for women’s reproductive rights, for abortion rights, for all the things they do to help young mothers.”

She continues, “It really saddens me that the idea of shutting down or defunding Planned Parenthood is even out there. [Montes and I] are both strong believers in being pro-choice and women having control over their bodies and everything Planned Parenthood supports. It’s really important that young women get involved so we can continue to have our reproductive rights.”

At Glam Cannes Gala, Bella Hadid Was 'In Heaven,' Eva Longoria Could 'Finally Eat'

“I’m in heaven,” quipped Bella Hadid as she arrived at the 24th amfAR gala at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes in a barely-there Ralph and Russo gown.

The younger Hadid sister giggled as she showed off the risky number that left little to the imagination. “We’re going to see if it stays on me for the rest of the night,” she joked. “I’m going to hopefully make it through the red carpet, have no mishaps happen, and I’m happy.”

She wasn’t the only one who was all smiles. The amfAR Gala that caps off the Cannes party circuit is known as the most decadent event of the film fest. “There is only one du-Cap, and Antibes is a very special place. Tonight is a magical evening and you feel like you’re amongst the elements. All of the arts converge here – fashion, music, art and film,” said Kenneth Cole, who is the chairman for amfAR since 2004.

Indeed, with so many celebrities present, it was hard to know where to look. A glowing Irina Shayk looked like she was floating down the white carpet in her floor-grazing, shimmery gown. The new mom later modeled a pair of Harry Winston earrings in the fashion show, marking her post-baby return to the runway.

Rita Ora arrived early, telling press she needed to rehearse one more time, as she was performing a new single for the first time.  Joe Jonas, who was performing with his band DNCE looked noticeably calmer as he said he’s, “very very excited,” about the evening. Then his gaze turned in Hadid’s direction, who was expertly making her way across the carpet without exposing more than intended.

Marchesa co-founder and wife of Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman, arrived clasping hands with model Karolina Kurkova. Chapman joked that Weinstein had kept the auction catalogue away from her until the day of the event. “He has his credit cards ready,” she laughed. Kurkova, in a sheer Marchesa creation, revealed she was being put to work. “I’ll be auctioning some art. I’ll be in the fashion show. So I’ll be busy tonight. This is going to be my only time to be dressed up, but then it will be back to work, and help to raise a lot of money,” said Kurkova.

Eva Longoria, in Elie Saab, had a different reason for why she was so excited to attend. “It’s my last gown of the week. I can finally eat tonight!” she said, walking inside the cocktail hour. Longoria may have looked gorgeous, but proved the Cannes circuit can feel never ending. “I’m ready to go home. I’m exhausted. I’m going to eat. I have to be around all these models, so that’s fun…” she said with a quick laugh.

Grana Is the New Everlane

Millennials may have a fixation with pink, but don’t underestimate their appetite for being smart shoppers.

More and more, the marketplace is brimming with direct-to-consumer fashion companies. Their offer of fair-priced, quality products with transparent production and pricing has become alluring to young customers looking for alternatives to fast-fashion companies. Such examples include luxury cashmere brand Naadam and fine jewelry startup AUrate. Then there is Everlane — the company that pioneered the direct-to-consumer (D2C) trend by offering quality basics like crewneck wool sweaters and oxford shirts at transparent pricing.

Everlane’s success is undeniable, but what they have spearheaded is what Grana — a new fashion company to the D2C market — is looking to expand upon, and at a much bigger, better, and faster rate.

Grana’s main focal point is offering the best, highest-quality fabrics from around the world at honest prices. For example, you can purchase a silk camisole for only $49 — one of their best-selling products. You can also buy a cashmere crewneck sweater for $99 or a pair of Japanese-cut denims for only $49. Sounds unreal right? So how does Grana keep their prices so low?

It all goes back to cutting out the middlemen and limiting the number of distribution centers to just one — in Hong Kong, where Grana is based. In a typical store setting, the chain of events takes at least four steps or more: A garment starts with an agent, and then travels to a distributor, then to a warehouse, and finally to the store. Each movement of goods includes a markup in the garment’s price. Grana, contrastingly, reduces the process to three simple steps

Grana prides itself on going straight to the fabric sources, which help bolster their diverse 10-piece fabric selection: Chinese silk, Peruvian pima cotton, French poplin, Irish linen, Mongolian cashmere, Italian merino, Japanese denim, Japanese chambray, Chinese cotton twill, and Italian Sensitive.

Lance Armstrong Engaged to Longtime Girlfriend Anna Hansen: ‘She Said ... YES!’

The controversial cyclist, 45, shared a photo of the magic moment, which took place aboard a family boat ride in Lake Austin, Texas, as the sun set behind them. He had a grin on his face as his lady love sat on his lap. The photo was captioned, “She said….. YES!!!!”

Congratulations started pouring in for the pair, who have been together for almost a decade. They met through his charity work when she was living in Colorado. They have two children, Max, 7, and Olivia, 6.

Hansen has already stuck with Lance, who was recently the target of a death hoax, through good times and bad — as he was part of one of the biggest cheating scandals in sports. The seven-time Tour de France winner turned cancer hero admitted in 2013 that he had doped for at least a decade. The last four years have been filled with legal battles, bad press, and shade from many loyal fans that he lied to over the years.

Drew Barrymore Posts Super Selfie of Famous Girl Squad While Reflecting on #PeopleILove

Not all therapy sessions take place on a couch in an office. Over the last few days, Drew Barrymore took to social media to spotlight #PeopleILove — from her daughters to her BFFs like Cameron Diaz — and “reflect on things that truly make me happy.”

On Sunday night, Barrymore, who recently finalized her divorce from third husband Will Kopelman, summed up the exercise, which saw her traveling down memory lane. Along with a photo of girls Olive, 4, and Frankie, 2, the 41-year-old actress wrote that she was thinking “about people and moments that make life make sense to me. That make life amazing. That motivate me to be my best self.” Doing it made her “feel so lucky,” she noted. “And after just living the last few days in all things positive, it was good for me to reflect on things that truly make me happy.”

The photos she shared were flashbacks of the peoples who are positives in her life. That included some of her famous friends, including Diaz, whom she has described as being like a “sister” to her, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Nicole Richie on a cold weather adventure. The photos is great because they all seem so relaxed and non-Hollywood. There’s not a lot of makeup, but you can feel there is a lot of love.

“Hold onto those you love and climb a mountain together,” she wrote. “The women in my life are doers. That can be anything from life, work and physical capability. Zest if you will. I follow my friends. And when I am most in need, I hold on tighter. But it is when they need me… I know I have done something right. To earn their trust. Love your fiends. Share kindness. Hold onto moments and most of all… MAKE MORE PLANS!!!!!!!!!”

Here is her super #girlsquad in a warmer environment. For the record, Drew is the “only one in shorts.”

Drew shared a second photo of Diaz from their Charlie’s Angels days (along with co-star Lucy Liu). “I want to live in this forever…” she captioned the premiere pic from 2003.

Old friends also made the cut, including her business partner Nancy Juvonen and her husband, Jimmy Fallon, from a glam night out at the Emmys in 2009. Barrymore has credited Juvonen, her partner in Flower Films, for her blunt advice on relationships.

Lady Gaga Talks ‘Joanne’ Album, Dive Bar Tour: ‘I Wanted to Do the Things That Made Me Fall in Love With Music in the First Place’

Lady Gaga’s voice pipes in over the phone, instantly familiar — but this isn’t booming madwoman cackle of “Bad Romance,” or the fembotic rap of “Lovegame,” or even the sexy vampire drawl of her recent American Horror Story character, the Countess. Lady Gaga sounds… normal. Chipper, unguarded, girly, even a bit giggly. She sounds happy. “I know this is silly, but how do I address you?” I ask her, feeling foolish the moment the question leaves my mouth. “Do I call you Gaga? Stefani?”

She just chuckles gently for a moment, pauses, and then answers, a little quietly: “Call me Joanne.”

Joanne, of course, is the title of Gaga’s much-anticipated fifth album, out Oct. 21. Joanne is also Gaga’s middle name, and the name of her parents’ Italian restaurant in New York. But most importantly, Joanne was Gaga’s paternal aunt, who died of lupus at age 19. Lady Gaga, aka Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, wasn’t born until 12 years after her aunt’s passing on Dec. 18, 1974, a date that Gaga has tattooed on her arm. “What I know of Joanne is what she left behind, which was a lot of loss and a lot of tragedy in my family,” she says. (Earlier this year, during an emotional speech at the Producers Guild Awards, where she performed her Oscar-nominated rape survivors’ anthem “‘Til It Happens to You,” Gaga revealed that a college campus sexual assault “tormented [Joanne] so emotionally that it caused the lupus that she had to get so bad that she died.”) However, despite never knowing Joanne personally, Gaga was greatly affected by her aunt’s legacy, and when Gaga reached her own 19th birthday, “That’s when I really decided I was going to hit the ground hard — hit the [New York] dive bar scene and the club scene hard with my music and playing out as a songwriter. It was really Joanne, and that story of our family, and the toughness that made us who we are, that gave me the strength to go, ‘You know, I’m going to live the rest of my life in a way that she couldn’t.’”

Gaga says Joanne is “a return to my roots in a very strong way,” and not just because it’s a tribute to a beloved, much-missed family member. It also goes back to her above-mentioned early NYC days, when she was playing Open Mic nights and opening for the likes of glam/garage band Semi Precious Weapons on the Lower East Side. (“Which was silly fun, and probably some of the best memories I have in my life.”) This is evident in the propulsive stadium-rock riffage of Joanne’s lead single, “Perfect Illusion” — or in that song’s uncharacteristically simple music video, during which a free-spirited, head-banging, fist-pumping Gaga rocks out at a desert rave with hipster producer Mark Ronson and Kevin Parker of Aussie psych-rockers Tame Impala, wearing just denim cutoffs, combat boots, a messy high ponytail, and a ragged, underboob-flashing T-shirt. One especially astute YouTube commenter actually said of the video: “This isn’t Gaga. This is Stefani.”

Gaga (or Stefani, or Joanne) is even planning a “Bud Light + Lady Gaga Dive Bar Tour,” kicking off Oct. 5, for which she’ll eschew her usual massive arena productions for the sort of grubby, hole-in-the-wall venues where she got her start. “It’s not so much about taking it all off for the sake of it, like, ‘Here I am, I had all these costumes before and now I don’t!’” says Gaga, who assures that there will be “more costumes and lights and big shows” in her future. (One can assume that her just-announced halftime show performance at next year’s Super Bowl will be a very un-dive-bar-like spectacle.) “But to begin all of this, we’re going to wind back the clock — to the day I decided when I was 19 that I was going to go live the rest of the life that Joanne didn’t get to live.”

Clearly, this is not the over-the-top Gaga of ARTPOP — and  for now, at least, that’s probably a good thing. While that 2013 album ultimately sold 2.5 million copies worldwide, it received mixed reviews, and while Gaga’s diehard fans, or “Little Monsters,” were supportive, many journalists were incredibly unkind — almost willing her to fail, dubbing the album ARTFLOP, and downright gleefully reporting on even the most minor setback in her personal or professional life at the time.

Gaga admits that this backlash was “hurtful at times… it doesn’t feel good when you put that much time and work and effort into things, and people make fun of them, or shame you for things you’ve created.” However, she adds: “The thing is, you’re not always going to make something that everybody likes. You can’t be in this for the business of people liking you. That would just not be even the right thing to do! To have such a big voice in the world and to only care about people liking you — what’s the point, really? When I’m making records, I’m never thinking, ‘How can I make this something that’s accepted?’”

Miranda Kerr Is ‘Very Excited’ About Upcoming Wedding to Evan Spiegel

Miranda Kerr may not be American, but she understands what Super Bowl Sunday is all about. The Australian supermodel appears in Buick’s new “Peewee” commercial and chatted with Yahoo Celebrity about the ad.

“It was a really great experience to be part of the commercial,” Kerr, 33, told us. “It’s so cute, the little peewee team. We had so much fun shooting it. Honestly, I’m not [a football fan]. I didn’t grow up with it, but it’s such a big part of American culture. It’s such an iconic thing to be a part of. I’ve always watched the Super Bowl. I’ve been to a game myself a couple of years back, and that was a lot of fun. The ads are always so interesting and quirky and funny, and they are just known worldwide to be watched.”

Kerr appears alongside Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the commercial. “Cam was great,” she gushed. “We had so much fun. We had the music going on set, and were dancing around in the cars.”

So, were any of the men in Miranda’s life jealous that she was filming with the good-looking athlete? “Oh no, they know where my heart is,” she laughed.

Kerr got engaged to Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel last summer after a year of dating, but the model played coy about their wedding plans this year.

“It’s a great year and we’re very excited,” she said. “It’s all happening!”

As for her Super Bowl plans, Miranda will be watching the game — and her Buick ad — at home with Evan and her 6-year-old son, Flynn, whom she shares with ex-husband Orlando Bloom.

“My partner is very good on the barbecue, so he’ll be doing that,” she shared. “And I’ll be cooking up a storm. You know, because I didn’t really grow up with the Super Bowl, I’m always asking people what traditional dishes to serve on Super Bowl are. I’m thinking maybe hot dogs … nachos … a little beef slider?”

So when Flynn sees his mom on TV, will he think it’s cool that she’s in a Super Bowl commercial?

“Because he’s only 6, I’m not sure he quite understands yet,” she said. “But they talk about it at school. When they had their school assembly, they talked about the Super Bowl coming up. He’s aware of it, but this will probably be the first year he understands the game and how much of a part of American culture it is.”

Oh, and just in case you were wondering: “I’d probably have to say I’ll be rooting for the Patriots,” she added.
