Pentatonix member Avi Kaplan announced in a tearful video Friday (May 12) that he has decided to step back from the a cappella group.
In the video, he talked about how much he has loved participating in Pentatonix but how difficult it has been to keep up with the fast-paced nature of the group, which often required him to spend long periods of time away from friends and family.
“All of the things that we’ve accomplished, all the music that we’ve made and the people that we’ve touched with that music -- it far surpasses anything that I could have ever dreamed for my life,” Kaplan said in the video.
Along with the video, Kaplan released a written statement on the group’s Facebook page.
