May 19 (UPI) -- British actor Tom Hardy, who played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, has landed another villainous role in a big-screen, comic-book adaptation.
"Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock in #Venom, the upcoming film from Sony's Marvel Universe releasing October 5, 2018 -- production starts this fall," Sony Pictures tweeted Friday.
Topher Grace previously played Brock/Venom in the 2007 movie Spider-Man
The Dark Knight Rises was part of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, which was based on DC Universe comics.
